Standing for too long, sitting for more than one hour, or going up and down stairs can be challenging as we age! Don’t give up! You may have lost some motivation to do day-to-day tasks, but that doesn’t mean you can’t turn things around. Even if it’s only baby steps at first, you can build the lifestyle you want for yourself – one that’s low-impact and enjoyable.

Our Staying Active classes are effective but fun exercise classes for over 50s. You’ll have the chance to meet people from a range of backgrounds who are like you and want to stay active and healthy for as long as possible. You’ll also learn how movement can help with pain management, how better posture can help preserve joint mobility, and how arthritis-related discomfort could be eased with easy exercises. Whether you want to get your mobility back because arthritis or osteoporosis is “holding” you back or just want to increase your energy, alertness, and mental clarity, Staying Active classes can be a great way to get started!

Meet Lyn, 78 years young

Q: What motivated you to sign up for the classes?

Lyn: Two things motivated me. I want to do exercise so that I may remain as physically active as possible as I age. The second thing is the location of the classes is very convenient for me.

Q: What have you enjoyed most about the classes?

Lyn: I respond to the commitment of regular sessions and have enjoyed the association with others who take part in the exercise classes.

Q: What improvements have you seen in your health and well-being since joining the classes?

Lyn: It is more a matter of noticing a decrease in physical wellbeing if I am not doing the exercise.

Q: What are your other comments about the program?

Lyn: I enjoy a variety of exercises, being challenged, and very much appreciated Aaron designing exercises for specific needs and changing them to keep the participants engaged. I feel we are attending classes with trained professionals who need to provide guidance where needed and stimulation to the participants.
