September means Victoria’s Youth Fest is officially here, a whole month dedicated to celebrating the creativity, energy, and ideas of young people across the state. It is the perfect time to shake up your routine, try something new, and find a way to move that actually feels good.
The Australian 24 Hour Movement Guidelines recommend that teenagers aim for at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day to keep both body and mind in peak condition. Your local leisure centre is the ultimate playground to crush that goal, no matter your age.
Forget the idea of boring workouts. Leisure centres are packed with variety so you can match your activity to your mood. Want to clear your head? Dive in and swim some laps in the pool, or come in and enjoy the aquatic facilities with your mates. If you are 16 or older, you can take things up a notch by hitting the health club to build strength or sweat it out alongside a friend in a high intensity group fitness class.
Exercise does more than just build physical fitness, it drastically improves your focus, boosts your mood, and helps you score better quality sleep. Gathering a group for a swim or a workout is a brilliant, highly social way to clock those 60 minutes.
